We talk about the Chicago Bears’ performance on Hard Knocks, but we also can’t ignore the addition of WCG’s own EJ Snyder and Brett Kollmann, the hosts of the Bootleg Football Podcast!
Brett and EJ talked about the new-look Chicago Bears and their thoughts on the draft class, but we did an NFC QB Situation draft to try and put the Bears’ QB situation in perspective. We looked at the talent of the QB, the QB2s on the roster (if they matter), their salary, contract status, age, and their surroundings to try to determine which NFC teams are in the best shape moving forward.
When we started with the draft, Brett Kollmann had the first pick and thought long and hard about selecting Caleb Williams.
“It’s very tempting to go Caleb here (first overall) considering the value of the contract,” Kollmann stated. “The standard we’re judging this by is CJ Stroud because you can argue that the most valuable non-Patrick Mahomes CJ Stroud has a rookie contract in the NFL, which will keep him as a top-6 or 8 quarterback for the next three years plus a fifth year option. Houston has a very good bargain in this regard. Therefore, it is immeasurable value if you believe Caleb will start the season as an ordinary quarterback with the possibility to improve to an above average or even very good quarterback in the top 10 to 12 range.
