MLB superstar shows some love for the Tennessee Vols after wild benches clearing incident
Seven-time All Star Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies, who was involved in a benches clearing incident with the San Francisco Giants, showed some love for the Tennessee Vols on Wednesday during a press conference.
Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison twice threw up and in to Harper while he was at bat in the top of the fourth inning.
Both benches cleared as a result of the second inside pitch.

After the game, Harper spoke to reporters and he was wearing a hat with “Vols” upside down on it (it’s a trend….apparently).

Harper, who is from Las Vegas, moved his family to Knoxville last offseason.
Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello spoke to WBIR about Harper’s newfound Vols fandom earlier this winter.
“His father was the first quick to point out that guys like, ‘Drew Gilbert, Trey Lipscomb, they play like you, Bryce.’ He started to watch our team a little bit and enjoy the style that is there,” said Vitello. “I think moving to Tennessee, into SEC country, you got to pick a squad, you got to pick a side. Again, I don’t mean to speak for him, but I think we are fortunate that he has become a Vols fan.”
The MLB superstar attended the College of Southern Nevada as a 17-year-old before getting selected by the Washington Nationals with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft.
Oddly enough, Harper was involved in a benches clearing incident seven years ago to the day in San Francisco.
