Mark Andrews: Isaiah Likely and I will be “special” in Ravens’ two tight end formations
When Ravens starting tight end Mark Andrews missed the last six games of last season, backup Isaiah Likely performed admirably in his position. And Baltimore is excited about the two of them playing together this season as a result.
As the Ravens employ more formations with two tight ends in 2024, Andrews views Likely as a player who will be on the field with him rather than as a rival for his starting position.
It’s going to be unique, according to Andrews. It’s difficult to gameplan for when you have two dynamic guys that create mismatches everywhere on the floor, regardless of where you position us. Both of these guys like playing sports and competing. It’s going to be enjoyable.
Last year Likely played 44 percent of the Ravens’ offensive snaps and Andrews played 41 percent. This year, Likely and Andrews adore the notion of playing the majority of offensive plays together on the field.
Likely remarked, “I’m just trying to find my place as a chess piece in the offense. “When everyone is on the field at the same time, you never know what will happen—a run or a pass—or where the big play will come from.”
Although the Ravens’ offense was very good the previous season, they may try something different this year with Andrews and Likely on the field along with Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, and Rashod Bateman.
