Kirby Smart Reveals His Thoughts On Jaden Rashada’s Lawsuit Against Billy Napier

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart addressed the media as the top SEC figures headed to Destin, FL, for the SEC spring meetings. Smart was asked about Georgia quarterback Jaden Rashada’s lawsuit against Florida head coach Billy Napier and other Florida boosters.

Rashada alleges he was promised $13.85 million to sign with the Gators out of high school. He ultimately signed but never attended, moving to Arizona State before making this summer move to Georgia. According to Smart, he was made aware of the case one day prior to its filing.

Smart went on to say that the Bulldogs are concentrating on other matters as summer practices get near and that Georgia is not a party to the lawsuit.

According to The Athletic, Smart remarked, “I told him that would be between him and his family and his attorneys.” “Not really for me to get into; in no way is Georgia involved in it… Maybe it’s a sign of the times. I don’t really focus on that stuff. My small bubble at Georgia worries me. For me, that is outside the bubble.

Rashada is expected to compete for the backup quarterback job behind starter Carson Beck. A year ago, he appeared in three games for the Sun Devils and threw for 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions while completing 53.7% of his passes.

Georgia is looking to win the third CFP national championship in the past four seasons. The Bulldogs lost the SEC Championship game against Alabama last season but rebounded with a dominant win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

The Bulldogs open the 2024 season against Clemson at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
