Former Springbok and Vodacom Bulls coach Jake White has reportedly been shortlisted for a head coach position with an overseas URC club
According to RugbyPass, the 62-year-old is one of three candidates under consideration by Italian club Benetton, who are seeking an experienced international coach to replace Calum MacRae at the end of the season. MacRae will join Dan McFarland’s coaching team at the Newcastle Red Bulls.
White has been unattached since parting ways with the Bulls in July last year following a player revolt. He coached the Pretoria-based outfit from 2020, guiding them to three URC finals in four seasons.
South African Corniel van Zyl, a former Benetton lock who earned eight caps for Italy, is also being considered by Benetton. He is currently Cardiff head coach and previously served on Benetton’s coaching staff before taking over at Cardiff earlier this season.
The third candidate is former England interim head coach Richard Cockerill, who has been out of coaching since his departure from Georgia in December.
