Cardinals Named A Potential Suitor for $39 Million Receiver After He Was Recently Released

The Arizona Cardinals haven’t done much to help their offense this offseason.

They added some depth in free agency and made one pick on offense in this year’s draft.

Instead, the focus has been on upgrading the defense, which has received a major facelift this offseason.

Cardinals Wire’s Jess Root thinks that could change with the team’s next move.

Root believes the Cardinals could pursue wide receiver Gabe Davis after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It has felt like there has been pre-season hype behind Davis each of the last four years.

Unfortunately, he has never lived up to that hype.

Now he has been let go by the Jaguars just one year into his three-year $39 million contract.

Despite not ever having the breakout season fans have waited for, Davis could actually be a really good fit for the Cardinals right now.

The Cardinals already have somebody dominating in the short areas.

Trey McBride has a career average depth of target of just 6.1 yards.

The Cardinals should also be trying to get Harrison Jr. some easier targets this season after often trying to use him as a big-play threat during his rookie season.

That would leave them still needing a big-play option at receiver.

Davis could be that guy. He has a career average depth of target of 14.6 yards and averages 16.2 yards per catch.

He shouldn’t be overly expensive as the Jaguars still owed him a bunch of guaranteed money for 2025 when they released him.
