The Duke Blue Devils fans might need to brace themselves following a recent admission over Cooper Flagg’s future.

It looks like the dream is over for Blue Devils fans hoping to see Cooper Flagg suit up in Duke blue next season.

Even though the writing was already on the wall, a Blue Devils legend has ripped off the bandage, and safe to say he didn’t sugar-coat it.

Jay Williams, a former Duke superstar and NBA player, shut down any speculation over Flagg’s future during his guest appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

When asked about the possibility of the 18-year-old sensation staying at Duke another year, Williams did not hesitate.

“I just can’t see Cooper Flagg staying at Duke,” Williams said bluntly.

“Think about how many max contracts he can get and I imagine he would be trying to start that process as soon as possible.”

Duke’s Final Four exit against the Houston Cougars already hinted that Cooper Flagg’s time at Durham may have come to an end. And if it truly is over, what a ride it was.

The 6’9” phenom lived up to every ounce of hype.

Flagg dropped a mind-blowing 19.2 points per game, snagged 7.5 rebounds, dished 4.2 assists, and added 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per night.

The teenage superstar also shot a slick 38.5% from deep.

Although Cooper Flagg himself hasn’t made it official, his own words sound like a farewell letter in disguise.

“It would be a blessing for me to get drafted [by any] team in the NBA,” Flagg was quoted to have said as per NJ.com.

“That’s a dream of mine, to play in the NBA. I would feel completely blessed and honoured to play for any team.”

Not exactly the tone of someone planning to hang around for another season of college ball.

With Flagg expected to go No. 1 in the 2025 NBA Draft, it’s easy to see why Williams is so confident.
