Arkansas junior forward Adou Thiero announced Tuesday via Instagram that he will declare for the 2025 NBA Draft, forgoing his remaining college eligibility. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Pittsburgh native made a significant impact in his first season with the Razorbacks after transferring from Kentucky, emerging as one of the team’s most reliable contributors.
Thiero led Arkansas in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.1 points and 5.8 boards per game. He also added 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals, displaying a well-rounded game on both ends of the floor. Among his standout performances was a 26-point, 10-rebound outing against UTSA on December 7. He posted 20 or more points in eight games and scored in double figures in 22 of his 27 appearances.
Injury Complicates, But Doesn’t Derail Stock
Thiero’s momentum was briefly halted by a knee injury sustained on February 22 against Missouri, sidelining him for eight games. He returned for the NCAA Tournament but logged just five minutes in Arkansas’ Sweet 16 loss to Texas Tech. Despite limited late-season action, his body of work throughout the year has kept him firmly on the radar for NBA scouts.
Most draft projections place Thiero in the early-to-mid second round. NBADraft.net currently lists him at No. 43 overall, while outlets like Bleacher Report and Tankathon have him going in the 30s. However, both ESPN and CBS Sports project him as a late first-round pick, with the Boston Celtics showing interest at No. 28.
Pro Potential Beyond the Numbers
Thiero’s appeal lies in his versatility, defensive instincts, and competitive motor. While his offensive polish is still developing, evaluators see a high ceiling, especially in a structured NBA system. Some comparisons have been drawn to San Antonio Spurs wing Keldon Johnson, suggesting a potential fit for teams seeking energy, length, and upside on the wing. A strong pre-draft process could push Thiero higher on draft boards come June.
