Leinster player ratings: Ireland stars respond after subpar Six Nations as ‘irrepressible’ Josh van der Flier leads the charge

15 Hugo Keenan: Outstanding in the air once again and took some nice lines, helping their attack to cut open the Harlequins rearguard at will. 8

14 Jamie Osborne: A mixed day under the high ball and you wonder whether someone like James O’Brien would be a better option on that wing. Osborne ultimately made a positive impact, however. 7

13 Garry Ringrose: Had a few issues defensively in the Six Nations but Ringrose was outstanding on Saturday. Alongside Robbie Henshaw, they led the line superbly and didn’t give Harlequins a sniff. He was also involved significantly in attack. 8

12 Robbie Henshaw: See Ringrose. Provided the directness in comparison to his midfield partner’s silky skills but Henshaw was just as effective. 8

11 James Lowe: Another player to produce some exceptional moments before he was eventually rewarded for his work earlier in the game with a brace. 8

A good response after Six Nations

10 Sam Prendergast: Much more like it from the fly-half after a mixed Six Nations, with Prendergast doing several nice things while knitting the attack together nicely. 8

9 Jamison Gibson-Park: Just outstanding once again. The width in his passing is exceptional and he pretty much always takes the right options. It gives so much fluidity to Leinster. 9

8 Caelan Doris (c): The skipper was a ubiquitous presence throughout, making impacts on both sides of the ball. Not quite as dominant as usual but we set very high standards for the outstanding number eight. 8

7 Josh van der Flier: Irrepressible in Dublin as the flanker continuously made ground with ball in hand but Van der Flier also did a lot of great work in defence. Quite the display from the former World Rugby Player of the Year. 9

6 Jack Conan: Has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance this season, performing superbly for both club and country. Conan continued that fine form against Harlequins with a super all-round effort. 8

Powerhouse second-row

5 RG Snyman: Provides a different dimension to this Leinster outfit with his ability to off-load in contact and that was on show at Croke Park. 8

4 Joe McCarthy: Didn’t have his greatest Six Nations, while he remains not quite as physically dominant as last season, but McCarthy formed a mighty second-row unit alongside Snyman with an imposing performance. 8

3 Rabah Slimani: Fin Baxter gave him some problems in the set-piece, despite Slimani – perhaps fortunately – being rewarded by the referee on a couple of occasions. 6

2 Dan Sheehan: A remarkable player in the loose and Harlequins struggled to stop him. Sheehan constantly wriggled through tackles and got Leinster on the front foot, while his set-piece work was solid. 8

1 Andrew Porter: Like Slimani, the scrum was not perfect – perhaps their only slight weakness – but Porter put himself about in the loose. 6

Replacements: They continued the good work from the starters with Jordie Barrett typically classy when he came on and expressing himself. Luke McCarth was also a standout coming off the bench and was incredibly lively around the fringes. 9
