Timothy Fosu-Mensah has trained with the Ajax first team in the run-up to the Europa League match against Union Saint-Gilloise, as can be seen from a photo on his Instagram.
The right-back, who is currently without a club, has been keeping up to standard in Amsterdam for a long time this term. Since January, 27-year-old Fosu Mensah has been training with Jong Ajax to work on his fitness.
The multifunctional defender has been without a club since his departure from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2024. In the past, Ajax has often given players the opportunity to train with the reserve team. Anwar El Ghazi, Christian Eriksen, Urby Emanuelson and Lasse Schöne have all made use of this opportunity before.
On his own social media, Fosu-Mensah shares a photo on the Ajax training field in training gear. In the background, head coach Francesco Farioli can be seen. It is not known whether the Amsterdam club is considering offering Fosu-Mensah a contract.
In the summer of 2024, Davy Klaassen trained with Jong Ajax and he managed to make such a good impression that this resulted in a contract.
Fosu-Mensah played in the Ajax youth academy before leaving for Manchester United in 2014. The right back, who can also play in other positions, then played for Crystal Palace, Fulham and Bayer Leverkusen. He has three caps for the Dutch national team.
