West Brom take on Oxford United on Saturday afternoon. They drew 1-1 away at Millwall at The Den last time out.
The Baggies turned to former boss Tony Mowbray as their manager earlier this winter. He was picked as their replacement for Carlos Corberan following his move to Valencia.
West Brom are sat in 6th place in the Championship table and occupy the final play-off place as they eye promotion to the Premier League. They are inside the top six with Burnley, Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers.
West Brom winger Jed Wallace has been ruled out for several weeks with a calf injury. He has taken to X to post the following message to the supporters: “Thank you for all the well wishes. Been largely a frustrating season for me but I’ll be supporting the best I can over the next few weeks as always. Overall the lads have been great & we’ve got ourselves to 6th in the league with 13 games to go. Got a real chance to achieve something this season let’s move forward together in a positive way.”
Wallace, 30, has been with the Baggies since joining them in 2022 from Millwall. He has since made 118 appearances in all competitions and has scored eight goals.
He gives the Midlands outfit more competition and depth in their ranks. The Reading-born man also injects some valuable experience into their squad.
Wallace has also played for the likes of Portsmouth and Wolves in the past. He was a hit during his time at Millwall before his switch to The Hawthorns and found the net on 43 occasions in 260 outings for the Lions.
What now for West Brom?
West Brom have teams below the breathing down their neck and will want to cement their place in the top six. Their upcoming opponents Oxford lost 2-0 against Portsmouth last time out.
Speaking after the Baggies’ draw at Millwall, Mowbray said: “I think okay probably sums everything up. It’s okay that we fought our corner and stood up to a team that were very, very intense and physical. We need to be better with the ball though and we need to have more penetration and ask more questions.
“In the first minute Adam Armstrong has ran through and smashed one probably too close to the goalkeeper, but that could’ve flew into the bottom corner. We hit the underside of the bar too and the ball bounced on the line. We could’ve been stood here saying we’ve won three on
