There are now concerns at Tottenham that Heung-min Son will struggle to rediscover his form, with a fresh update now explaining why the Spurs captain may no longer have a guaranteed place in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven.

Son has been one of the few Spurs players who has managed to stay fit over the last few months, and the supporters would have expected their talisman to step up when key players were missing.
However, that did not happen, with the South Korean no longer appearing to pose the kind of threat he used to while picking up the ball out wide and even more uncharacteristically, lacking in composure in front of goal.
According to a new report, the return to fitness of other attackers and Tottenham’s January business has now put the forward’s spot in the team under real threat.

With Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson now back from injury, Mathys Tel arriving in January, and Dominic Solanke expected to be back in a few weeks, there are ‘major question marks’ over whether Son will keep his place in the side.
In fact, the report asserts that some sources say the 32-year-old will ‘struggle’ to start for the side when all their attacking options are fit, which puts doubt on the long-serving Spurs man’s future role at the club going into next season.

Mathys Tel could be Son’s long-term successor
The outlet goes on to state that internally Spurs are ‘increasingly optimistic’ that they would be able to convince Mathys Tel to snub other offers and seal a permanent switch to N17 in the summer.
It is asserted that the 19-year-old is seen by some at the club as the long-term replacement for Son. When Solanke returns to the starting eleven, Tel is expected to make the left-sided attacking role his own.
