Jonathan Danty, the center for France, is still upset over their loss to the Springboks in the Rugby World Cup and has not forgiven Pieter-Steph du Toit for what he sees as “injustice.”

The powerhouse for Les Bleus is still upset because he feels the flanker should have been sent off for a clearout that struck his head during the quarterfinal more than a year ago.

Despite playing the whole 80 minutes, Danty thought that the infraction was significant enough to call for a TMO intervention.

That, of course, never happened, and the Springboks won their fourth world championship with a close victory of 29-28 in the final eight.

A rematch of the 2022 conflict

It just so happens that a year before that event, in a November 2022 international, Du Toit was sent off for another clearout on Danty, forcing the France center to leave the field.

Danty claims that although the flanker expressed regret for the infraction, the La Rochelle star is still furious at what he believes to have been the similar kind of hit during the World Cup.

He apologized [for the first one] in a message that he sent me. However, the fact that it was a reasonably similar motion the second time surprised me,” he said to Midi Olympique.

“I want to steal the ball in the breakdown, but it can be a little tricky to steal the ball a meter from the ruck. However, it is the reality.

“It’s unfair, but I believe the contest is over after that move. When they decide to kick into touch during the contest, I’m watching the big screen.

“Everything moves pretty fast. You can tell it’s over when their number 10 kicks the ball into contact.

“I reposition myself, the contact is taken, and it proceeds swiftly. However, I believe it could have been worthwhile to evaluate.

Remaining resentful
Danty maintains that he will have a grudge against Du Toit and would decline to have a beer with the two-time World Rugby Player of the Year if given the opportunity to make amends. They say that time heals, but Danty doesn’t believe that.

“I recently saw on social media that Eben Etzebeth had reposted a video of his goalkeeper save saying that the ball went backwards,” he continued.
