Dr Motaung founded Kaizer Chiefs over five decades ago, and he is also one of the founding members of the National Soccer League (NSL).
Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung was on Wednesday handed a R2 million gift by PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.
This is a birthday gift as Dr Motaung recently (16 October) celebrated his 80th birthday.
Dr Motaung was handed his gift at the NSL Quadrennial General Meeting and Executive Committee Election in Johannesburg.
South African Football Journalists Association (Safja) was there to capture this unique moment.

Making it official, Dr Khoza said the Executive Committee had resolved to give Dr Motaung the money to ‘spoil’ himself.
“With the permission of the Executive Committee, we would like to grant Dr. Motaung with R2 million to spoil himself,” said Dr Khoza.

Polokwane City defender Thabang Matuludi was initially on the Kaizer Chiefs wish list and Amakhosi were the frontrunners to sign the 24-year-old. Now, however, Pirates have taken the lead.
“Chiefs were leading the race to sign him and unfortunately for him, the move didn’t happen before the last transfer window closed,” an insider told Phakaaati.
“There have been enquiries about him and I’m told Pirates are also monitoring the situation. Remember Chiefs wanted to also get his teammate Oswin Appollis but that move also didn’t happen because the City chairman is a hard man to convince into selling,” he added.
Orlando Pirates fixtures on the horizon
Jose Riveiro’s men have three league encounters to prepare for in the next month and they’ve also got two tasty Caf Champions League clashes on the horizon. The visit of African champions Al Ahly on 06 December is one to get in the diary. There’s also the prospect of a meeting with Bafana and former Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo when Pirates go North to face Belouizdad of Algeria on 26 November.

Otladisa is leaving
Katlego Otladisa is one of four midfielders heavily linked with an exit in recent weeks. According to SoccerLaduma, Sekhukhune United and Polokwane want to hand Katlego Otladisa a lifeline at the top level. The former Marumo Gallants star has found things tough with the Sea Robbers, hardly featuring in match-day squads. A loan move away in January is a strong possibility. Even former club Gallants are interested. With Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota, Monnapule Saleng and Gilberto ahead of 28-year-old Otladisa in the pecking order for wide attacking berths, the player himself is keen to engineer a move away.
At his age, the former Marumo Gallants attacking midfielder stands at a career crossroads. Since his move to Pirates in July 2023, he’s only made 12 appearances for the Sea Robbers. In those outings, he’s got zero goals and zero assists. Not ideal.
