It’s Not Over Yet After Taylor Gray Brutally Confronts Christian Eckes at Martinsville Speedway
Christian Eckes used the bumper to grab the win at Martinsville Speedway
On Friday night, Martinsville Speedway hosted the final playoff elimination race for the NASCAR Truck Series. The race ended with fireworks.
On a restart with just 5 laps to go, Taylor Gray got the jump on Christian Eckes. Gray then drove it deep on the outside into turn one and was able to clear him off turn two.
Eckes lines up the bumper of Gray into turn three. He shoved him deep into the corner and Eckes took the lead away with the bumper.
After the race, Gray was heated. He climbed from his truck in a hurry. He then began walking toward victory lane.
NASCAR security caught up to him and walked alongside. Security was heard telling him, “Take a deep breath.”
Gray walked right to Eckes where he was met by the No. 19 crew members. The drivers exchanged only a few words.
Gray ended the conversation with a light shove to Eckes.
Taylor Gray comments on Christian Eckes
“I got shipped to the fence whenever I raced him perfectly clean,” Taylor Gray told Fox Sports.
“What comes around, goes around. I have to race him next year, all year long.”
“Clean racing,” Gray responded on what we would see in the championship finale at Phoenix.
“He’s raced me shitty all year long,” Gray later told Bob Pockrass.
“I’ve never moved the guy. I could’ve just went in there and shipped him. But, I wanted to race him straight up.”
“Time after time, when we come to Martinsville, it becomes a joke. I do not want to be the reason Martinsville turns into a joke.”
“I chose the outside to race him clean. I cleared him off of two and he just drives through me.”
Gray needed a win at Martinsville in order to race for a championship next week. He’s now been eliminated from the playoffs.
