Erik Lamela Reacts After Hearing News about Tottenham young player who is ‘the best of the best’

Erik Lamela still keeps an eye on all things Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine spent eight years at Spurs, and even though things didn’t always go to plan on the pitch, he was a popular member of the squad.

Lamela recently completed his move to AEK Athens. He’s about to start a new journey in Greece, but he hasn’t forgotten about his old club or the players there.

The attacker has sent a message to one Tottenham player after he left Spurs on loan on Wednesday.

Erik Lamela sends message to Tottenham’s Alejo Veliz after his loan exit

Tottenham signed Alejo Veliz from Rosario Central in the summer of 2023

The young striker is a really talented player. Ange Postecoglou branded Veliz as a player with a ‘lot of talent’, and he was given opportunities in the first team as well.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Sevilla, where he joined forces with his compatriot and Spurs old-boy, Lamela.

Unfortunately for Veliz, his time in Seville proved to be an unsuccessful one, and he returned to Tottenham in the summer.

On Wednesday, Spurs confirmed that Veliz has been loaned out to another Spanish side on a season-long loan deal – Espanyol.

That is a really exciting move for the young striker, and it looks like Lamela is really excited for him as well.

Reacting to the Veliz’s Instagram post, he commented: “Go dog! The best of the best!”

Veliz’s move is good news for another Tottenham youngster

A few good loan spells will really benefit Veliz.

The 20-year-old has all the attributes to thrive in the Premier League one day, but he needs regular game time to gain experience at the top level.

Veliz leaving opens the door for another Tottenham youngster to make his mark – Will Lankshear.

The 19-year-old has been a regular under Postecoglou in this summer’s pre-season, and he has scored a few very good goals too.

With Veliz gone on loan and Troy Parrott already sold, there is a chance Lankshear will get some first-team opportunities in the upcoming campaign.
