West Ham United fans will be sitting back and taking great pleasure from a tweet that Leeds United posted more than two years ago now.

The two clubs have been intertwined in the news over the last week or so, with West Ham pushing hard to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds.

The deal was made official yesterday, with the Hammers believed to be paying a minimum of £20 million for the 22-year-old winger.

What an absolute steal is in this day and age for a player with Summerville’s outstanding ability.

The left winger possesses explosive pace and has real end product – something we’ve been crying out for on the left hand flank for quite some time now.

Summerville bagged an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United last season, and if he could replicate anything like that at the London Stadium he’d be well worth the money.

This signing is one of the most exciting additions for the Hammers over the past decade, alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta.

Leeds fans must be absolutely gutted that they’ve lost him to us, especially for such a relatively paltry fee.

However, the arrogant tweet from 2022 from the Leeds admin has not come back to bite them just because of the Summerville deal…

The admin of club’s X accounts surely should know by now not to post arrogant, cocky messages on the platform.

When they do, it always comes back to bite them, as Lyon found out when we knocked them out of the Europa League in 2022.

Leeds fell into the same trap, and now it has come back to bite them, two-fold!

Back in January 2022, Leeds beat us 3-2 at the London Stadium, and their X admin posted an extremely cocky message directed at us:

At the time, the result was a big blow for West Ham and David Moyes, who were chasing the top six at the time.

However, everything worked out perfectly for us in the end.

Had we won that game against Leeds, we would have finished in sixth place and qualified for the Europa League.

The Hammers ended up qualifying for the Europa Conference League instead, and eventually won the competition.

It was our first major trophy in 43 years! So not only did Leeds actually play a big part in helping us end 43 years of hurt back in 2022, but they also lost their best player to us two years later.
