Tottenham Hotspur have made two new signings so far this summer, but they could well look to step up their interest in targets now August is under way.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of forwards in recent months, with names such as Santiago Gimenez, Ivan Toney and Viktor Gyokeres doing the rounds.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have set their sights on a striker whose style of play has been likened to that of Harry Kane.

The player in question is Dominic Solanke, who has gone from strength to strength at Premier League outfit Bournemouth.

Romano said Tottenham are exploring a move for the 26-year-old, though he acknowledged this would be a difficult deal as he’s such a key player for the Cherries.

Charlie Daniels, a legend from Bournemouth, compared Kane and his former teammate Solanke in January of this year.

Daniels, who was also on the books at Spurs early in his career, told The Sun that Dom “combines the duties of a No 9 and a No 10…a bit like Harry does.”

“He can receive the game to feet as well as stretch it in behind.” He moves the same way as Harry does, and their cognitive levels are the same.

“They are both really strong; they both hold the ball aloft.” Though Harry finishes more naturally, the parallels are evident.

Given the size of the transfer cost, it is unclear if Tottenham will consider haggling with Bournemouth for a lower sum.

Given that Solanke’s contract expires in 2027, the Cherries would undoubtedly have a strong negotiating position.

In addition, his stock is at a record high, making this summer an excellent moment to profit from it.
