Celtic take on Manchester City in the USA on Tuesday night as Brendan Rodgers looks for a tougher pre-season test to prepare for the start of the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys were dominant victors in Saturday’s friendly against DC United, racking up a 4-0 scoreline thanks to goals from Matt O’Riley, James Forrest and Mikey Johnston.

Man City represent a significant step up in quality with Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish included in a squad that Pep Guardiola has otherwise admitted will be made up of largely Academy prospects.

One of those youngsters looking to get an opportunity is 20-year-old defender Callum Doyle, who spent last season on loan at Leicester City and is reported to be heading to Norwich City on a similar deal this term.

Before that though, he’s been given a chance to impress on their tour of the United States with City also facing off against AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea.

Despite the other big-name clubs on the schedule, Doyle says it’s the Bhoys he can’t wait to play.

Asked which USA game he’s most looking forward to, the youngster told Man City’s official website: “Probably Celtic. I’ve always dreamed since I was a little kid to play against Celtic.

“Since I was watching the derbies between Celtic and Rangers I feel like it’ll be a good game, a good test and a good battle.”

There could be another Celtic debut against Man City

With Kasper Schmeichel joining squad training ahead of the fixture, there’s a chance Celtic field another new signing for the first time in the USA.

Viljami Sinisalo got the second half of the win over DC United and Schmeichel could get similar minutes against his old club City.

It would be ideal to see both new goalkeepers get 45 minutes under their belt as they adjust to new teammates and new defenders.

Kick-off is at 00:30 in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time, which is a 19:30 start in North Carolina.
