Tennessee player who got hit with a dose reality by Vols DL coach Rodney Garner last summer no longer with team
A former four-star recruit who was hit with a dose of reality last summer by defensive line coach Rodney Garner is reportedly no longer a member of the Tennessee Vols football program.
According a report from VolQuest’s Austin Price, redshirt freshman edge rusher Chandavian Bradley is transferring to Hutchinson Community College.
Bradley’s departure from Tennessee is “effective immediately” according to Price’s report.
The Missouri native endeared himself to Vols fans last summer when he told reporters that he enjoys getting yelled at by coaches.
“Since I’ve been here, he’s (Garner) been on me about every little thing and I love it,” said Bradley last August. “I went up to him after practice today and told him thank you because that’s the type of stuff that I like. Because it helps me learn. And I think sometimes it looks as if it gets under my skin a little bit. But in reality, in my head, I’m processing it and I genuinely like being taught that way. I like being yelled at. It’s weird, but I really do like it. I enjoy it.”
A few days later, Garner made it clear during a media session with reporters that he wasn’t impressed by Bradley’s comments, suggesting that the young edge rusher shouldn’t try to “kiss up to the teacher”.
“I think Chandavian is just trying to get some brownie points,” said Garner. “But you know, I really don’t like yelling at him. I wish I didn’t have to yell at him. So I’d like for him to just do a better job and be more physical. And just take the coaching and not try to kiss up to the teacher.”
Bradley didn’t play for the Vols as a true freshman last season after taking a redshirt year.
