Exclusive: AC Milan ready to start transfer talks over £40million-rated Chelsea star
Carney Chukwuemeka, a midfielder for Chelsea with a £40 million release clause, is available for transfer negotiations with AC Milan.
According to sources close to the situation, Chukwuemeka is primarily a loan target for Milan, though they would be willing to negotiate a buy option for roughly €20–25 million.
For the time being, Chukwuemeka is known to prefer staying at Chelsea, though it’s unclear if he’ll get much playing time at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming season. Milan hopes to persuade him to move to the San Siro.
Chukwuemeka has been a touch unlucky with injuries throughout his time at Chelsea so far, so it may be that the 20-year-old would do well to be patient and attempt again to push for a position in the 2024/25 campaign.
Still, with so much competition in this vast CFC squad, it could also be worth looking at how some former Blues players have rejuvenated their careers since leaving the west London club for Milan.
Chukwuemeka transfer: Could he shine alongside former Chelsea rejects
Chukwuemeka would be lining up with former Chelsea players like Christian Pulisic, Fikayo Tomori, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek if he moved to Milan.
Perhaps Chukwuemeka, who is at the point in his career where he has to play frequently and have the manager’s trust, can learn something from those players who never really made a name for themselves at Chelsea but performed much better while they were in Italy.
The evolution of this issue and Milan’s ability to finance a Dal will be intriguing to watch, as Chelsea may try to hold onto the England Under-20 international unless his £40 million release clause is activated.
