Credit: West Ham United table £29m+ bid for Jean-Clair Todibo as Nice respond

Florian Plettenberg reports that West Ham United is attempting to sign OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to the Sky Sports Germany reporter, who was a major target for Manchester United, the 24-year-old won’t come cheap, as reported by X on July 2.

West Ham has already had a £29.6 million opening bid rejected. The team hasn’t given up on signing the center back, though, and they may make another bid.

Will West Ham United sign Jean-Clair Todibo from OGC Nice?

The signing of this player would be fantastic for the Hammers. Juen Lopetegui’s team is in dire need of a new defender, as seen by the team’s defensive performances in the previous campaign.

Fixing that weak defense will be one of Lopetegui’s top priorities as only the three Premier League relegated teams conceded more goals than the Hammers. And acquiring Todibo would help achieve that goal considerably.

The France international is one of the most interesting defenders on the market and someone who United were anxious to sign.

Bringing in a player of this quality would be a huge statement of intent and an incredible way to usher in the Lopetegui era at the London Stadium.

This won’t be an easy deal to get across the line, but if there is any indication that it might be possible, then the club must make this an absolute priority.

The opportunity to sign a player like Todibo doesn’t come around often, and the Hammers must therefore look to take full advantage.
