Spurs seal second summer transfer with highly-rated striker to arrive next week

Tottenham have signed a talented young striker in 16-year-old George Feeney who will arrive at the club next week with the aim of eventually progressing from the club’s academy into Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

football.london reported on Tuesday that Spurs had seen off competition from Brighton, Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest to sign the Glentoran teenager for a fee that is expected to include add-ons to benefit his Northern Irish club in the future.

Feeney, son of former Bournemouth, Luton and Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney, will arrive at Hotspur Way next week to begin life in the academy with Stuart Lewis’ U18 side, where he will also work with academy coaches Playing alongside his father, Bradley Allen and Jermaine Defoe had aspirations of rising through the ranks to play for the first team.

Wales and Northern Ireland are engaged in an international tug-of-war over the Newport-born player, who represented both teams at the U16 and U17 levels.
