Tottenham backed to sign ‘brilliant’ Archie Gray in cash-plus-player exchange
Tottenham have set their sights on signing Leeds United sensation Archie Gray this summer in a possible swap deal with Joe Rodon.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton explained that any swap deal involving Rodon would also require “big cash” on top of the Welsh defender.
Rodon, 26, has spent the season on loan at Elland Road, with the club keen on keeping him beyond the end of his loan this summer.
Gray, meanwhile, has attracted multiple suitors across Europe after making 52 appearances in his breakthrough season aged just 18.
Football Insider revealed that Leeds are pulling out all the stops to keep him at Elland Road, but Spurs have now been tipped to sign the “outstanding” midfielder.

Leeds are desperate to keep their star academy graduate at the club beyond this summer despite failing to gain promotion to the Premier League.
Hutton, meanwhile, explained that Gray’s versatility and ability make him a perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s team, with a “big fee” on the cards.
“It would have to be big cash, not just Rodon, I think it would be a lot of money on top of that” he told Football Insider.
“He’s had an outstanding season. The guy has played at full-back, played in midfield, played as a number ten, the list goes on.
“I think he’s only going to get better. He plays with such freedom and it’s refreshing to see.
“The way Ange plays, that’s perfectly suited to him. He’s comfortable coming inside and taking the ball with his back to play and getting forward with his ability to cross into the box.
“He’s so young as well.
“It’s going to be a big fee, but looking to the future, if they can bring someone like him in now, he could be there for years to come.
“That would be an brilliant signing for them.”
