Al Horford discusses the Celtics’ comeback from an 18-point deficit against the Pacers in Game 3, stating that they were aware of their opportunity and wanted to seize it.
Without veteran Al Horford, who is 37 years old, the Boston Celtics would have undoubtedly found it difficult to finish their comeback against the Indiana Pacers in Game 3. Jayson Tatum led the team in scoring, and Jrue Holiday made the game-winning play with a steal at the final second.
Horford finished with 23 points, making seven of his 12 3-point tries. In the process, he made his mark on history in a number of ways.
Horford’s seven three-pointers not only tied for fourth most in an Eastern Conference Finals game, but he also made history by being the oldest player to ever make a three-pointer in a playoff game and the fourth center to ever do it.
Horford scored one of his threes in a crucial situation with a little more than a minute left. Tatum, behind by five points, drove to the hoop and skillfully finished a behind-the-back pass to Horford in the corner for a clear-cut three-pointer to trim the margin to two.
Regarding Tatum’s pass, Horford remarked, “It was pretty special.” “He believed he had a lane as he drove to the basket, and then—I don’t know how he got it there; he had to improvise—he just keeps making the perfect play time and time again. He made a beautiful play, and at that point, all I could think was to “take my time and knock it down.”
