Former Louisville Forward Danilo Jovanovich Announces Transfer Destination
Jovanovich is the ninth former Cardinal to announce his transfer destination this offseason.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Another former member of the Louisville’s men’s basketball program has found their portal landing spot.
Danilo Jovanovich, a former forward with the Cardinals, declared his commitment to Milwaukee on Tuesday. Jovanovich has officially found his new transfer home, making him the seventh former Card overall.
Skyy Clark will return to his alma mater, UCLA; Mike James and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield will team up at NC State; Tre White will play for Illinois; J.J. Traynor will play his final year at DePaul; Curtis Williams will play one more year at Georgetown; Kaleb Glenn will play for Florida Atlantic; and Dennis Evans will play for Grand Canyon.
The only former Louisville players who haven’t chosen their next school are walk-on Hercy Miller, Emmanuel Okorafor, Koron Davis, and Ty-Laur Johnson.
Jovanovich is also teaming up with T.J. Robinson, who decommitted following Kenny Payne’s dismissal and was Payne’s only pledge in the Class of 2024. On Monday, Robinson made a commitment to Milwaukee.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward played his true freshman season at Miami before joining Louisville in the offseason. However, he did not make much of an impression on the floor. Jovanovich participated in 20 games and started five of them, but in 166 minutes, he only finished with 24 points, 22 rebounds, and five assists.
During his lone season with Miami, the Milwaukee, Wisc. native appeared in just one game for the Canes due to an ankle injury, but did not log any stats. Jovanovich was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 190 player in the Class of 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite.
After head coach Kenny Payne was fired, all 12 scholarship players left Louisville, meaning that only walk-on guard Hercy Miller from the previous campaign will be returning. However, since taking over as head coach on March 28, Pat Kelsey and his staff have made quick work of the recruiting trail, landing eight transfer pledges thus far this cycle.
From Charleston, Reyne Smith and James Scott are following Kelsey, and other newcomers include Terrence Edwards Jr. from James Madison, J’Vonne Hadley from Colorado, Aly Khalifa from BYU, Koren Johnson from Washington, Aboubacar Traore from Long Beach State, and Chucky Hepburn from Wisconsin.
