Jeff Stelling believes a £60 million striker who’s the “nearest thing” to Tottenham legend Harry Kane could end up joining Spurs this summer.
Tottenham set sights on new centre-forward to replace Kane
Spurs are reportedly preparing to sign a center-forward when the transfer market reopens, according to some reports in recent weeks, even though manager Ange Postecoglou did a good job in his first season without Harry Kane.
In all competitions this season, Son Heung-min and Richarlison have scored a combined 26 goals, which has been a huge assistance to Postecoglou. Initially, some thought that Kane’s influence would be too difficult to replace.
After Kane’s multi-million pound transfer to Bayern Munich last summer, many thought Tottenham wouldn’t be contending for Champions League football and a top four finish. However, they are still in the running.

The last eight months have also given Spurs chiefs time to look at possible out-and-out replacements for Kane ahead of next season, with many believed to be enticing their interest.
Tottenham are apparently interested in Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez after his brilliant goalscoring haul in the Eredivisie this campaign, while the same can be said of Union St. Gillosie forward Mohamed Amoura.
Nearer to home, Spurs have even been connected to Alexander Isak of Newcastle, who just assisted in defeating them at St. James’ Park. According to reports, the north Londoners have put aside “big funds” for the signing of world-class striker Pete O’Rourke this summer. This will be necessary considering how highly sought-after they are around Europe.
The top player from Brentford, Ivan Toney, is another huge name that has Tottenham interested. It appears likely that Toney will depart the Bees before 24/25. The “world class” England international’s contract expires in 2025, and following his 20-goal season last year, he has been intermittently linked to a move to N17.

His price tag is rumoured to be around £50-£60 million, but presenter Stelling has told talkSPORT that Toney could choose to join Tottenham as the club most suited to him.
“My next thought is about Ivan Toney,” said Stelling. “We know, we know, I don’t need to be worried about being disrespectful because we know he is going to be on the move. We were talking about Spurs for Eberechi Eze, but Toney Ivan. No, I don’t think he’ll play for Arsenal, and I don’t think he’ll go into the current top four.
“Manchester United, without a doubt, as Rasmus Hojlund is still learning his trade and will undoubtedly go on to be a good football player in the future—a fact I think we can all agree upon. Toney is essentially the polished product, yet Tottenham seems like the natural decision for Ivan Toney.
“I believe that if they’re looking for someone who can play every position on the field, score goals, lead the line brilliantly, and is the closest thing to a Harry Kane,”
