New York Giants: Daniel Bellinger Would Be 1 Tight End If Darren Waller Retires

The New York Giants tight end room was led by Darren Waller and Daniel Bellinger last season. With a possible retirement in the future for Waller, it is possible that Bellinger would be the number one tight end for the Giants in 2024 if Darren Waller didn’t come back.

There has been a reason why the Giants signed two tight ends off the free agent market this offseason. They are providing depth for the position in case Waller does retire. He hasn’t made a decision yet on it.

Last season, he missed some games due to a hamstring injury and only played in 12 games. Darren Waller caught 52 passes for 552 yards receiving and one touchdown. He averaged 10.6 yards per reception and was targeted 74 times. Waller is 31 years old and has also dealt with injuries when he played for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Bellinger during his rookie season was the starting tight end for this football team until the Giants acquired Darren Waller via trade from the Las Vegas Raiders last offseason. Last year, Daniel Bellinger caught 25 passes for 255 yards receiving and zero touchdowns. He averaged 10.2 yards per catch and was targeted 28 times and did not miss a game last season.

Bellinger is only 23 years old and was a fourth-round pick from San Diego State in 2022. He is an excellent blocker and has room to grow. He had 30 catches for 268 yards and two touchdowns during his rookie season. Daniel Bellinger was also targeted 35 times and averaged 8.9 yards per reception during his rookie season.
