He’s getting noticed’: Alasdair Gold says Spurs have an 18-year-old youngster who’s caught Postecoglou’s eye

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Jamie Donley is continuing to impress at youth level, and he has caught Ange Postecoglou’s eye now.

Spurs fans have a lot to be excited about. They have a solid squad right now, their recruitment has been really good, and unlike the years gone by, many youngsters in the Tottenham academy are showing immense potential. Donley is one of them.

Alasdair Gold says Ange Postecoglou really trusts Jamie Donley at Tottenham

Jamie Donley joined Tottenham’s academy when he was just eight years old.

The youngster came through the ranks at Spurs and has impressed at every level in the academy. He is viewed by many behind the scenes as a massive talent who can become a star in the future.

Donley has six goals and 12 assists for Tottenham’s U21s this season. He has been incredible and is perhaps just too good for that level now.

Alasdair Gold shares a similar opinion about young Donley, and he has claimed that Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou ‘trusts’ the teenager after noticing his performances.

The writer stated, “They have a player in Jamie Donley who is at that stage where he’s probably too good for the U21s,” on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham podcast. He is very nearly at the border of “it looks too easy for him.”

However, as we have repeatedly stated, the Premier League is an enormous step above that. Therefore, he doesn’t automatically join the team on a Saturday for Postecoglou just because he’s great at it.

“But the first team is definitely taking notice of him.” (If he hadn’t) This season, he wouldn’t have made three Premier League appearances, one FA Cup appearance, and Ange’s inclusion in several significant occasions. He has faith in him!

Tottenham’s Donley is a star in the making

Fans of Tottenham should be really happy with Jamie Donley.

The 18-year-old is capable of playing up front, as a number 10 or as a backup striker. He can play on the right flank as well as drop into a box-to-box role in midfield.

Many believe Donley has the same “aura and confidence” as Spurs star James Maddison behind the scenes at Tottenham. Both players are quite similar.

Though we’re confident Donley can succeed at the highest level, it will be intriguing to watch how he develops in the upcoming years.
