‘We want to be the best’ – Tottenham star is not shying away from the squad’s ambition
Dejan Kulusevski has no qualms about admitting that Tottenham’s eventual goal is to lift the biggest trophies in the sport.
The sounds emanating from Hotspur Way over the past few weeks have indicated that the players and coaching staff are aiming for something far more significant than Champions League qualification.
Guglielmo Vicario also talked about doing “something special” a few weeks ago (TNT Sports), and captain Son Heung-min stated that he and his colleagues are hoping to do “something special” this season following Tottenham’s victory over Brighton two weeks ago (NBC Sports).
However, earlier this month, Ange Postecoglou stated that his team will continue to try to catch teams like Manchester City and Liverpool until it is mathematically impossible to do so (Football.London).
Dejan Kulusevski wants Tottenham to become the best
Tottenham’s loss at home to Wolves on Saturday has given a stern reality check to those at Hotspur Way, likely putting to bed any hopes they might have had of chasing down the top three.
However, Kulusevski is not afraid to admit that Spurs’ eventual ambition is to be the best side in the Premier League.
The winger has now told The Sun: “We want to be the best, there is no reason why not we can be the best if we are doing this.
“When we were kids we were all dreaming and then people tell you to stop dreaming, it is nice to try to become more like kids again thinking everything is possible.”
Champions League qualification would be Tottenham’s immediate aim this season and the Swede admitted that he and his teammates to desperate to get back into Europe’s premier club competition.
