Ange Postecoglou calls up ‘tremendous’ U21 speedster to Spurs training pre-Brighton
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been putting his players through their paces ahead of their weekend Premier League fixture.
Spurs host Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, hoping to seal a fifth successive home victory and bounce back from their disappointing result last time out.
Tottenham twice failed to hang on to a lead in their 2-2 draw at Everton last weekend, while the Seagulls ran out 4-2 winners over M23 derby foes Crystal Palace.
James Maddison, a star player for the Spurs, posted a picture of himself and a few teammates during training on Instagram on Thursday.
“A pair of pretenders. The Tottenham playmaker remarked, “W’s only around here,” while carefully placing red X emojis over the faces of three players.
One of the most talented players in the Tottenham academy, Max Robson, was also included in the photo after the Spurs manager offered him an opportunity in senior training.
Throughout the season, the 21-year-old has been a mainstay for the Tottenham Under-21s, participating in all but one of their Premier League 2 matches and taking home victories in each one.

In 2021, Superhotspur praised the gifted player in a piece they authored. He was a regular attacker at the time, but these days he plays full-back.
The Spurs youth team specialist stated, “The player loves to take players on for skill. He can play up-front as a false-nine, in central midfield, or out wide.”
Robson is a dynamic possession player who always aims to play the ball forward. He also does a very good job at pressuring the ball off the ground and in general.
“A versatile but very talented and determined player on the pitch, Robson is fearless on the ball.
“But it’s his ability to get into really good pockets of space, which makes him so potent inside the penalty area.
“He also has very good reactions and can dribble with the ball at a good pace, as well.
“While he clearly has a tremendous work ethic on the pitch, his quality with the ball is excellent, and he’s a real joy to watch on the pitch.”
It’s always good to see academy players get called up to senior training, and Robson looks like a top talent with a bright future ahead of him.
Let’s see whether he continues to feature in training sessions. He’s yet to make his senior Tottenham debut, so he’ll be aiming for that over the course of the year.
If all goes well, we might see Robson get a few minutes here and there, feature in pre-season, and perhaps get a loan move next season to get first-team experience.
