In a furious match in North London, where Ange Postceoglou’s team scored three goals in eight minutes through Destiny Udogie, Brennan Johnson, and Richarlison, Maupay took the lead. The match ended 3-2 in Spurs’ favor.
Maupay decided to make fun of Maddison by mimicking his darts celebration after giving the lead to Brentford, and Ivan Toney joined him as a strike partner. Following the celebration, Maupay and Maddison got into an instant verbal spat, and the England midfielder subsequently disclosed what he had said to the Frenchman during the game.
