Tottenham, Villa blow as City hatch ‘astonishing plan’ to ‘re-sign’ duo amid claim club ‘will accept £100m’
According to reports, Manchester City are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz in the summer.
Porro and Luiz have been two of the standout players in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham defender Porro joined Man City for £11m in 2019 but he joined Sporting Lisbon permanently in 2022 after failing to establish himself at the Etihad.
The January 2023 transfer window saw the Spain international sign a loan deal with Spurs, which became permanent in the summer.
Porro struggled near the conclusion of the last campaign, but Ange Postecoglou’s engaging football philosophy has enabled the right-back to play at his best this season.
While Luiz is assisting Aston Villa in mounting a surprise fight for the Champions League spots, he has nine goal involvements in 20 Premier League games this season.
The standout from Aston Villa has reportedly drawn interest from other Big Six teams in recent months, and Porro is rumored to have drawn Man City’s notice.
Now a report from Football Insider claims Man City have an ‘astonishing £200m plan to re-sign two of their former players’ as they have ‘strong interest’ in Porro, while they are ‘keeping close tabs’ on Luiz. The report adds.
The Citizens sold Porro and Luiz in 2022 and 2019, respectively, but they are currently being considered for incredible and extremely expensive returns to the Etihad.
“Both Porro and Luiz are valued by their respective clubs at approximately £100 million.”
According to a Football Insider report from earlier this week, Villa “will accept” Luiz’s exit in the summer, if they receive a proposal of £100 million.
Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, recently praised Porro, saying that the defender has been “super” this season playing as an inverted full-back.
“Pedro is very good. “He didn’t start the first game, but he really adapted right from pre-season,” Postecoglou said to reporters.
“We’re obviously asking for a different kind of role than what our full-backs are used to, but I think he and Destiny have adapted really well to it,” the player said.
