The NFL’s All-Pro teams were released ahead of the playoffs on Friday and there was no shortage of 49ers players grabbing the league’s highest annual individual honor. Three players earned unanimous selections, two of which came from San Francisco’s uber-talented roster.
Do it all running back Christian McCaffrey and linebacker Fred Warner both were selected unanimously along with Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, per Ari Meirov. In total, the Niners had six All-Pro players, five of whom were first-team.
This is McCaffrey’s third All-Pro selection and second time on the first team. He had arguably his best season as a
pro in 2023, finishing first in the league in running yards and scoring 21 touchdowns overall. For the second time in his career, he had more than 2,000 scrimmage yards.
Near the close of the season, McCaffrey was beginning to garner MVP talk; however, a few spectacular performances by Lamar Jackson, especially one against the Niners, signaled the end of CMC’s MVP run. Nevertheless, he is the favorite to earn Offensive Player of the Year and should still win it.
Warner has been named to the first team All-Pro three times. He received the 2020 and 2022 All-Pro titles. Warner finished with 132 total tackles, five quarterback hits, and six for loss. He also recorded four interceptions, which was a career-high. With 22, the 49ers and the league lead were tied.
49ers stars being recognized
Any football fan knows that the 49ers are among the NFL’s most talented teams. It’s not necessary to emphasize the point with the honors given to the coaches and players, but it must have some significance for opponents and game watchers to acknowledge them.
Being awarded an All-Pro is a real accolade for most players. It sets you apart from the other players in the league, and it’s far more satisfying to do it with teammates.
In the 49ers locker room, Christian McCaffrey and Fred Warner join Trent Williams, George Kittle, and other players in celebrating this accomplishment. Even still, they will all admit that they are hungry for more and that San Francisco is only three victories away.
