Journalist baffled after club approach Tottenham to sign their £26m player
Brazilian giants Flamengo have made an enquiry to sign Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur this month.
This transfer window, Spurs are taking things seriously, don’t they?Following the completion of a comprehensive agreement this morning, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin of Genoa are en route to North London. Now that the emphasis is on outgoings, Emerson is worth considering.
Flamengo make enquiry to sign Emerson Royal from Tottenham
Emerson Royal was acquired by Tottenham from Barcelona in 2021 for a little less than £26 million (The Athletic).
Two and a half years ago, the Brazilian arrived with much anticipation, but his first two campaigns in North London were incredibly disappointing.
Even though Emerson’s sale was being advocated by many, the Brazilian has improved and helped to Tottenham’s defense following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou.
He has now been added to Flamengo’s wish list. The interest of the Brazilian side was revealed a few days ago, and it
has now surfaced that they have initiated an official investigation.
However, journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira is perplexed by Flamengo’s action and has called their strategy “pointless” since it defies logic.
“They made an enquiry to Emerson Royal, it wasn’t an offer,” he stated on S1 Live. It’s a fruitless question. At Tottenham, the player is a starter. Despite his results under Diniz, he is not certain to be a bad player in every situation. He should be able to play at that level because he plays in the Premier League.
However, it’s certain that Flamengo won’t select a player who has started for Tottenham. I’m not sure why they asked that particular question.
Emerson is going nowhere
Emerson Royal cannot possibly be allowed to depart Tottenham this month.
Ange Postecoglou has the Brazilian not just as a right-back option but also as a central defensive option and on the other side.
It would be completely illogical to let him go in the middle of the season given how much he has improved over the last few months.
Emerson might, however, be traded in the summer if Tottenham signs a replacement, however we don’t believe he’d be prepared to play for Flamengo again in Brazil just yet. He still has several years to play at the highest level in Europe.
