Gustaf Lagerbielke Lecce loan transfer ‘fears’ as Celtic demands could prove too much
Lecce are concerned they will not be able to meet Celtic’s demands in order to strike a deal for Gustaf Lagerbielke, according to reports in Italy.
The Swedish center back, who cost £3 million when he signed with the team at the beginning of the season, doesn’t seem to be in Brendan Rodgers’ plans, and it’s possible that he will be free to leave in January, either permanently or on loan. The 23-year-old’s interest in joining the Serie A team on loan was revealed yesterday.
Although there are rumours that several other clubs are interested, reports stated they had spoken over a short-term contract for the remainder of the season. However, despite their interest in the midfielder, Corriere dello Sport is now claiming that the Lecce camp has some reservations.
The Italian team believes that they may find it difficult to give Celtic what they would want to take their player on loan.
The Hoops won their first home Champions League game in ten years thanks to a goal scored by the former Elfsborg defender against Feyenoord. That being said, Rodgers doesn’t seem to be fond of the Swede, even in light of other center back ailments.
For the Glasgow derby, Stephen Welsh was selected to start in place of the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers. When the Scot sustained an injury too, Maik Nawrocki took over, with Lagerbielke appearing to be much lower on the hierarchy.
