Janusz Michallik has suggested that many completely forgot about Rodrigo Bentancur during his time on the sidelines as he lauded the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.
Spurs received a huge lift from Rodrigo Bentancur before their match against Bournemouth this past weekend. The Uruguayan had not been seen since late November after taking a harsh challenge from Matty Cash. (2022).
Bentancur’s absence was expected to last until mid-February. However, he unexpectedly returned for Sunday’s victory over Bournemouth.

Speaking to ESPN, Janusz Michallik also expressed his belief that, in light of Bentancur’s most recent return, many people are going to be reminded of how crucial he is to Tottenham.
Take a look at Richarlison lately. Observe his actions. Kulusevski, amazing. Take a look at what he did with Lo Celso. He remarked, “I mean, I really forgot about Lo Celso a few weeks ago.”
You are aware of my feelings toward Bentancur. Though many English fans are unaware of his identity and style of play, he is truly exceptional.
Uruguayan could be so important during the second-half of the season
Bentancur made only 10 appearances for Tottenham in 2023. He sustained a serious injury against Leicester in February. And obviously, his return from that injury was cut short during the loss to Aston Villa
The midfielder, who cost £21.5 million, was one of Tottenham’s few bright spots in the previous campaign. Despite not appearing after February, Bentancur ended as Spurs’ third-highest goalscorer in the Premier League.
And some fans may have forgotten about Bentancur given that he missed two extended periods of time due to injury in the previous 12 months.
Considering how much time the 26-year-old has been away from the spotlight, Ange Postecoglou will be cautious about asking too much of him too quickly.
But if Tottenham can get Bentancur back to his best in the near future, they have such an amazing player up their sleeve who can make a massive impact in the second-half of the season.
