‘That is a real stinker’: Chris Sutton stunned by what’s happened at Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur will hope to get back to winning ways on Sunday when they host Bournemouth in a 2pm kickoff.
After appearing to have turned the corner in recent weeks, Spurs lost 4-2 against Brighton midweek.
In the Premier League match on Thursday, Tottenham did behind 4-0 at one point, but two goals in the last minutes gave the score a somewhat more respectable ending.
The injury situation affecting Tottenham doesn’t appear to be getting better. Due to a hamstring problem, Cristian Romero is expected to be out for up to five weeks, leaving the Spurs without him.
When he previews Tottenham’s match against Bournemouth on BBC Sport, Chris Sutton admits that this is a “real stinker” for Spurs.
However, the pundit also feels Ange Postecoglou’s charges have what it takes to get over the line and back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory.
Sutton stated, “What Arsenal does in January will be crucial in determining how they finish their season, but the same applies to Tottenham.”
“Manager Ange Postecoglou, who may be missing injured defender Cristian Romero for up to five weeks, was hurt by Spurs’ loss to Brighton. That is a major setback for them because he is such an important player.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth just keeps winning. With eight goals in seven games, Dominic Solanke and them are both on fire.
Spurs’ improvised defense won’t be able to stop him, but they will prevail.
“They have a lot of creative players and can cut Bournemouth open, but it might take a Postecoglou rocket to get them back on track.”
Tottenham Hotspur on the right track despite bumps in the road
Tottenham’s season has been quite the roller coaster thus far. Although they started the campaign setting the pace, injuries, suspensions, and exhaustion have impeded their advancement.
Not surprisingly, given how the Spurs performed the previous season and their lack of depth. Although Rome wasn’t created in a day, the Lilywhites are headed in the right direction.
At Tottenham, several reinforcements should arrive during the January transfer window. Reaching the top four is a realistic objective, and getting into the Champions League will be extremely beneficial for summer hiring.
