Trevor Etienne, a former running back for Florida, opened the transfer portal this month, but he will remain on the Vols’ 2024 schedule even after leaving the Gators.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports reported on Sunday morning that Etienne would be joining the Georgia Bulldogs. According to On3’s portal rankings, Etienne is the eighth-best portal player overall and the top running back.

Tennessee will play Etienne and the Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Athens, Georgia. As part of the Georgia-Florida rivalry in Jacksonville on November 2, the former Florida running back will take on his former team.

On December 7, Etienne logged onto the portal.

In each of his first two seasons, the NFL player Travis Etienne’s brother was a formidable force for the Gators. During the 2023 season, Etienne led the Gators in touchdowns, yards per rush, and yards per game. Against Tennessee, he played a huge game in Gainesville.

Against Tennessee, Etienne had a career-high 23 carries for 172 yards and one touchdown.

The five-foot-nine sophomore had a difficult beginning to his collegiate career in terms of team wins and losses rather than touchdowns or stats. In Etienne’s two years as head coach, Florida has finished 11–14 under Billy Napier.

Another bitter note in Florida’s turbulent December is Etienne’s arrival through the transfer portal and subsequent appearance at rival Georgia. Since the end of the season, the Gators have been losing rostered players and recruits, and many are wondering where the aimless team will turn to next.

This season, Tennessee has added four players—Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, Oregon State corner Jermod McCoy, MTSU safety Jakobe Thomas, and Tulane receiver Chris Brazzell Jr.—while losing ten players to the transfer portal.
