Tottenham Star: linked with January departure from Tottenham as Everton transfer position clear
Richarlison has scored just two Premier League goals since leaving Everton for Tottenham Hotspur.
According to sources, Richarlison, the former striker for Everton, is drawing attention before the January transfer market opens.
In a transaction that might have cost up to £60 million, the Brazil international departed the Toffees for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2022. With 53 goals in 152 games, Richarlison was a beloved player at Goodison Park. He was crucial to Everton’s tight escape from Premier League relegation in the 2021–2022 campaign.
But Richarlison has had difficulty since joining the Spurs. Only two goals in the league and five goals in 46 games in all competitions have he scored. Prior to deciding to have surgery for a shoulder problem that has been bothering him, the former Watford attacker was below Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson in the hierarchy.
The Telegraph claims that Al-Ittihad, a Saudi Arabian team, was interested in signing Richarlison during the summer transfer season. Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema were all signed by a Saudi Pro League team earlier this year. Richarlison’s departure from Tottenham was previously forbidden, but it’s unclear if this would change now that Saudi teams are “ready to test the water again.”
Will Everton be interested?
There will no doubt be Evertonians clamouring the for return of Richarlison if he is indeed available. Yet the precarious financial situation has dictated the business the Toffees can conduct in recent windows – and is expected to do so again in January.
While the takeover process with prospective new owners 777 Partners is ongoing, Dyche has already admitted he doesn’t expect to be working with a significant budget when the transfer window reopens in around six weeks’ time.
The Everton boss had to carefully navigate his way around the market in the summer, with Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray sold while payment plans for the purchases of Beto and Youssef Chermiti were agreed with Udinese
and Sporting CP in that order.
Reporters were recently informed by Dyche that, “Kev (the director of football) and I talk about things, but we’re not talking about all the bigger picture stuff with the staff and recruitment department.” That will happen in the upcoming months.
“Let’s see.” Right now, the answer is yes (the fiscal position will remain the same) if everything else is the same. It’s very clear, in my opinion, that not a significant amount of money has been involved. We have done well, in my opinion, in bringing in money for the team and then counterbalancing it with player acquisitions. We’ll wait and see, but it may be very much the same.”
