Multiple outlets are now reporting that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed a strong interest in Palmeiras star Joaquin Piquerez ahead of the January transfer window.

Piquerez, a versatile player who can play both left back and left wing back, has been a standout performer in the Brazilian Serie A in recent years. He is now a regular in the Uruguay national team.

Spurs and Aston Villa both like Joaquin Piquerez

Journalist Diego Firmino has now taken to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that several clubs, including Spurs, have conducted surveys about the 25-year-old.

The reporter continues, “Aston Villa and Marseille are also closely monitoring the player ahead of January.”

Bolvaip Brazil, who is cited by Sport Witness as supporting this information, has hinted that Piquerez might be heading to the Premier League and has named Tottenham and Villa as the two teams vying for his services.

According to the source, Palmeiras would be open to taking €10 million (£8.7 million) in January for the left-back.

Piquerez may have drawn the attention of Tottenham scouts when they were scouting Sebastian Caceres, his international teammate. Tottenham has plenty of options at left back, so I would be shocked if they made a move for the Palmeiras star in January.
