Kurt Zouma new contract twist as Fabrizio Romano makes fresh claim

Fabrizio Romano has just provided a contradictory Kurt Zouma new West Ham United contract claim.

Given that he was recently designated the new club captain and that his contract with West Ham expires in the summer of 2025, the fans are clamoring for him to be given a new contract.

The 28-year-old was acquired by Hammers manager David Moyes for over £30 million back in the summer of 2021 (Daily Mail).

He has proven to be a superb acquisition for West Ham, but a ridiculous recent story said that we could be willing to let him go for a loss of £5 million!

That is obviously not going to happen, and it appears that the club is eager to lock him into a new contract.

Kurt Zouma could be handed new contract

Claret and Hugh denied rumors that Zouma was about to sign a new contract with West Ham earlier this month and raised doubts about his history of knee problems.

But Fabrizio Romano now asserts that the Frenchman’s new contract will actually only be a matter of time:

Kurt Zouma and West Ham have scheduled contract talks; as a result, conversations will likely take place in the coming weeks or months. There are currently no formal conversations with other clubs, despite the fact that he serves as the club captain and is a crucial member of the Hammers.

I’m just hoping that Romano has called this one correctly, because we really do need the former Chelsea man to commit his long-term future to the Hammers.

He seems to have reached a new level this season and despite concerns over his knees, he is a vital member of Moyes’s squad.

New Kurt Zouma contract hopefully imminent

The 28-year-old’s position within the team has changed from last season as a result of receiving the captain’s armband at the London Stadium.

He has always been a leader from behind, but his off-field responsibilities have taken that to whole new heights.

At just 28, Zouma may still have about eight years to play at the highest level left after this season’s utter dominance at the back for the Hammers.

It will be crucial for the team to have him committed to a new, long-term contract. I hope we complete it as soon as possible.
