Frank Lampard says Chelsea player Tottenham made deadline-day bid for is simply ‘amazing’
Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea who Tottenham Hotspur bid on on the final day of last month, has received praise from Frank Lampard.
Many predicted that the Englishman would depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, but he has started all seven of the Blues’ Premier League games thus far. He is an important player for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, and Lampard adores him to the moon and back.
Frank Lampard raves about Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher
Everyone is aware of Conor Gallagher’s incredible talent as a midfielder for Chelsea.
While on loan at Crystal Palace, the 23-year-old built a wonderful name for himself, but his performances for Chelsea last season were patchy.
But despite this, each manager he has played for has stood by him, and Frank Lampard has finally explained why. The Blues veteran asserted that every single day, Gallagher is just wonderful in the background.
“He’s an amazing character and a big talent, he has a talent for scoring goals from midfield,” Lampard said during Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
“He has real talent and energy, which is a huge asset for a midfield player, but one of the things I discovered working with him is a lot of the things you don’t see. As a manager, you see things that people on the outside don’t, and when you see people who want to train well, work hard, and demonstrate something new every day.
“When choosing a team, people sometimes ask why you keep playing Conor Gallagher. The answer is because of what I see from him every day, his desire to play for the club, his ability to influence people just by his standards, and when I went back to look at the squad, which was low for many reasons, the boy trained every day like he wanted to show you something. I have a lot of admiration for him.
I sincerely hope that this stretch of games and his role as club captain will provide him the chance to advance in his Chelsea career because I understand how much it means to him.
Tottenham made a deadline-day bid to sign him
On the day of the last month’s transfer deadline, Tottenham Hotspur was extremely active.
In addition to signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest, Spurs were also highly interested in signing a new defender and midfielder. Ange Postecoglou chose Conor Gallagher to be his new representative in the middle of the park.
On the day of the transfer deadline, GiveMeSport stated that Tottenham had submitted a £40 million proposal to Chelsea to acquire the midfielder.
It will be fascinating to watch if Postecoglou makes a second offer in the January transfer window after that deal fell through back then.
