The match on Sunday, though, was a lot more open and exciting for onlookers who were not involved.
Despite Tottenham’s dismal track record at the Emirates, there was a lot of confidence among the team’s supporters before the game.
His team now has the flexibility to play dynamic, aggressive football thanks to Ange Postecoglou.
Because Yves Bissouma has excelled this season in a defensive midfield role, his team has been able to do that.
Arsenal icon Liam Brady admitted he thought Bissouma was excellent for Tottenham at the weekend.
The £25m midfielder was tasked with keeping Martin Odegaard quiet and it’s no coincidence the Norwegian was off the boil.
Bissouma stars for Tottenham vs Arsenal
The transformation of some of the guys who didn’t play for [Antonio] Conte watching them play for Spurs yesterday is fairly dramatic, Brady stated in reference to Postecoglou’s team’s performance.
“Conte very soon put [Yves] Bissouma, the young man they acquired from Brighton, in the reserves or he didn’t want to work with him at all.
But he was really, really good yesterday, so I believe the Spurs players are on board with Ange Postecoglou’s plan.
Fans of Spurs will be curious as to what transpired at the club during the previous season, as Bissouma struggled to break into the team under Antonio Conte.
The Italian never really gave Bissouma a chance, preferring the team of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.
It’s difficult to argue with Alan Shearer’s assessment that Bissouma was Tottenham’s top player against Arsenal.
Few people would have disagreed only a few months ago that the 27-year-old was a steal last summer, as claimed.
When Bentancur recovers from injury, it will be intriguing to watch if Bissouma’s play picks up another level. Tottenham is now getting the best of him.
