Feyenoord’s technical director Dennis te Kloese insists that he ‘immediately’ turned down Tottenham Hotspur when the Premier League giants came calling. 

Te Kloese, who is the Feyenoord coach who led the team to just their second Eredivisie title in the 21st century, told ESPN that Arne Slot was’very close’ to taking over in North London until Tottenham Hotspur decided to pursue Ange Postecoglou.

However, Slot was not the only member of Feyenoord’s championship-winning team to have supporters in London.

Te Kloese, the team’s technical director since 2022, has left his mark on this painstakingly assembled team, and Fabio Paratici’s retirement in May made way for the 49-year-old to maybe join Slot at Tottenham’s futuristic stadium.

According to Te Kloese, “Arne Slot was closer to joining Tottenham than I was.””In my opinion, Tottenham came quite close to acquiring Slot. We are relieved that he is still with us because of this. We also hope that he does well with that decision.

I sincerely hope that we will be in the same position next year since it would indicate that we had a successful year.

“I’m not interested in working for anyone else. Personally, I don’t think now is the best moment to relocate,” Te Kloese continues. Even though the weather is now less favorable, my family is only now beginning to adjust to the Netherlands!

Feyenoord is still unblemished after five games after drawing their past two contests.
