Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may have just given Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou some food for thought.

The Tottenham player’s future was questionable throughout the summer, and he has yet to start a Premier League game for Spurs this season.

Earlier this week, Hojbjerg disclosed to Bold that he and Postecoglou had frank discussions on the latter’s potential chances at Tottenham.

The £100,000 weekly Spurs player also demonstrated his skills on Thursday by scoring a spectacular goal against Denmark.

In the Euro 2024 qualifying match, Hojbjerg’s country defeated San Marino 4-0, with the Tottenham star scoring the game’s first goal.

Hojbjerg received the ball on the edge of the box in the 26th minute, and he unleashed a half-volley into the far corner of the goal.

Joakim Maehle and Jonas Wind added a goal apiece before the interval, before Christian Eriksen rounded off a resounding win in second-half injury time.

‘A boss in midfield’

Hojbjerg was commended by a number of Danish media sites that evaluated Denmark’s players for both his performance and goal.

The midfielder from Tottenham has not played as many minutes for the club team as he is used to, but in the Danish midfield, he is self-described and a very clear leader, according to DR, who awarded the Spurs star a 7 out of 10.

Hojbjerg, who was withdrawn early in the second half to conserve some energy, “resolutely put Denmark up 1-0 and directed both fellow players and the audience in the Park with great authority.”

Tipsbladet, however, picked five of the six players, asking: “Did he merely reserve a seat for the position of the national team’s 10?

“After Thursday’s game, if you didn’t know any better, you would have assumed that Hojbjerg was a player who was clearly attacking!

Although his defensive skills weren’t as crucial as normal, he was still a dominant presence in the middle of the field and had plenty of room to advance.

He “acknowledged that, among other things, with a great goal while also having a third-last foot in Jonas Wind’s scoring,” according to the report.
