Cobus Reinach is eager to embrace a leadership role and impart his knowledge at the Stormers when he returns to South African rugby next season.

The two-time World Cup-winning Springbok scrumhalf, currently with French Top 14 club Montpellier, sees the potential in linking up with the Stormers’ young stars.

“Playing attacking rugby with X factor players like Damian Willemse, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, and Manie Libbok excites me for what’s to come,” said Reinach in a wide-ranging interview with Sunday newspaper Rapport.

The 34-year-old, who left South Africa in 2017, says his time in England and France sharpened his all-round game.

“England honed my attacking skills, while France improved my defence and kicking. It’s the right time to bring that back home,” the former Sharks star explained.

Reinach values his development under legends such as Fourie du Preez and Ruan Pienaar, and now wants to pass on that knowledge.

“That mentorship meant so much to my career. I hope to do the same for the younger players,” he said.

Despite his age, Reinach insists he’s ready for the demands of Test rugby, with an eye on the 2027 World Cup: “My body has held up well, and I’ve gained invaluable experience.

“The goal line doesn’t care about age – just who crosses it first.”
