I want to Assist Kaizer Chiefs return to glory days’ –star
Ex-Moroka Swallows defender Bongani Sam is one of the few players who joined Kaizer Chiefs directly from rivals Orlando Pirates.
Former Orlando Pirates left-back Bongani Sam is eager to help his new team Kaizer Chiefs return to the top.
The 25-year-old is one of the four players signed ahead of the new Betway Premiership. He spent the first half of the last campaign with Moroka Swallows, on loan from Orlando Pirates. Amakhosi have so far signed Rushwin Dortely, Fiarce Ntwari, Gaston Sirino and Sam.
The former Orlando Pirates defender has shared his ambition under new coach Kaizer Chiefs Nasreddine Nabi.
“I want to help the team to go back to its glory days. It’s not only me who wants that. I am sure the guys are also eager to do the same thing. I am just fortunate to be part of the group who are eager to take the team back to where it belongs,” Sam told SuperSport TV.
SAM IS ONE OF THE FEW PLAYERS TO LEAVE PIRATES FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
“It’s an honour to me to be one of the players who played for all the teams in Soweto. I am really happy and excited…can’t wait for the season to start. The environment that I come from gave me the platform to adapt easily here in this journey,” he said.
Sam only played a total of 17 league games for Pirates during his five-year stay and will hope to get more minutes with Kaizer Chiefs. Amakhosi will kick off their 2024/25 season against Marumo Gallants at the Free State Stadium on 14 September.
