‘It’s getting ridiculous’: Pundit says it’s almost crazy how good £15m Tottenham player is now
Tottenham were back to their brilliant best against Newcastle at the weekend, and one player in particular stood out against the Magpies.
Indeed, Destiny Udogie gave Ange Postecoglou’s team a very outstanding performance over the weekend.
The Italian not only scored a goal, but he also did a fantastic job of stopping Newcastle’s assaults, preventing Anthony Gordon from getting close to the goal during the whole day.
Speaking on Off The Ball, Pat Nevin was all praise for Udogie and his recent Tottenham displays, saying that the young man’s talent is already nearly ludicrous.
Udogie is ridiculously good
Nevine was full of praise for the £15m man.
“It’s getting ridiculous, you look at Udogie and he comes up against good players. We know how good someone like Anthony Gordon has been this season, but he didn’t get a sniff and Porro has really come on. Those two, he fact they’ve been brilliant defensively and they’re also midfielder and they’re also in the box, that one Udogie finished, what is he doing there? That’s a centre-forward’s position,” Nevin said.
What a bargain
This season, Udogie has been outstanding, which highlights what a great addition the Italian player was to the team last summer.
At barely £15 million, Tottenham seems to have somewhat deceived Udinese in this deal.
Even though Udogie has only played in half of a Premier League season, you could argue that his worth has already increased fourfold. He is only 21 years old, so he still has a lot of ability to grow and develop.
When Udogie is at his best, he could be among the division’s top left-backs, and his partnership with Pedro Porro down the other flank is, to put it mildly, quite entertaining.
Here, the Spurs have a true diamond on their hands.
