€45m Tottenham ace opens up on his ‘very difficult’ role in Ange Postecoglou’s system

Tottenham Hotspur appointed Ange Postecoglou as their manager at the start of the season.

The Australian arrived with fresh ideas and a free-flowing attacking approach. His ideas proved to be an instant hit at the north London club and Spurs were exceptional in the first few weeks of the season.

Major injury issues have caused their play to regress, but their offensive attitude certainly made an impression in the early weeks of the season.

Defender Pedro Porro has now talked candidly with AS about how challenging it was to adjust to the Australian’s coaching style and his new position within the team. The 24-year-old said that it was challenging for him to adjust because he has never played as an inside. But as each game goes on, he feels much better, and the management is starting to trust him more. Since coming from Sporting CP, the €45 million defender has shown himself to be a valuable addition for Tottenham.

Since I had never played there before, it was new to me, therefore at first it was rather challenging for me. With each game, I feel a lot better.I feel more at ease as the games go and the coach’s confidence rises.I’m content and intend to keep doing well whilst I’m there (in that role).

The Spaniard has given the Tottenham assault a fresh perspective moving forward, and it is evident that he is getting better defensively as well.

He has the potential to become one of the league’s top full-backs, no question about it.

Considering that he has four assists in his past five games, Postecoglou’s approach may be able to achieve the best.
